Lauriena Ann Lemieux Curtiss

May 6, 1930 - Feb. 9, 2021

Lauriena Ann Lemieux Curtiss, 90, was born on May 6, 1930, to Frank and Maria Lemieux. She was the youngest of 15 children. The family moved to Circle, Mont., where she met her husband DuWaine Curtiss; they married in 1949. They then moved to Lovell, Wyo., and then to Basin, Wyo., where he was a lineman for the REA. To this union, four children were born: Roger, Vickie, Connie and Sheri. 

Lauriena was mostly a mother and a homemaker but also worked at the Co-op, Post Office and drove beet truck. She was very active in the Catholic Church, cancer drive and Eagles Club. She was the organist for the church and played at Wyoming Retirement Center every Tuesday. She was chosen as Lilac Queen for all of her volunteering. She had many friends and helped anyone who needed it. 

She was preceded in death by her husband DuWaine of 53 years; oldest daughter Vickie L. Winke; her mother and father, four brothers and nine sisters.

Those left behind and cherishing her memory include her sister Edna Reese of Havre, Mont.; son, Roger (Debbie) Curtiss of Georgia; daughters Connie (Mike) Reinig of Helena, Mont.; Sheri (Phil) Hartman of Basin, Wyo.; son-in-laws Rusty Winke of Cody, Wyo.; Charles Hopkin of Basin, Wyo., and special friend Claude Craft Sr of Basin. Her legacy also includes 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Private family visitation and burial at the Mount View Cemetery will occur in the coming days. A public Memorial Mass will occur in the late spring or early summer. Arrangements are in the care of Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
