Miller’s Fab gets into the radiator business

David Peck photo[/caption]Miller’s Fabrication of Lovell has added another service to the company’s diverse repertoire of industrial services with the recent purchase of Lovell Radiator from longtime owner and founder Phil Angell.Angell founded Lovell Radiator in 1994, operating the business from a shop at 1271 Road 11½ south of Lovell.Miller’s acquired the business and equipment in December and has been integrating the service into the company’s sprawling complex a half mile east of Lovell.“We’re set up to work it now, but we plan on setting up a separate work area by enclosing our existing wash bay this spring,” owner Levi Miller said.“We’re up and running and can do everything to them,” added office manager and co-founder Linda Miller.Miller’s can pressure check and test for leaks, then make repairs or re-core a radiator if necessary, then re-attach the core to the water tank. The company can clean radiators with a caustic bath and a Vibrasonic tank, which “breaks all the gunk loose and cleans it inside and out,” Levi said. “We can flush radiators, too. We can repair leaks or decide if it needs to be replaced.“Some are worn out and too costly to repair versus the cost of a new one.”Miller and employee Scott Watson are learning the radiator business, and Miller said Angell has been very helpful training during the transition.Miller said the company can generally turn a car radiator around in a couple of days, whereas a larger radiator might take a week to a week and a half if a new core is needed. Miller’s can order a specific size. He noted that the company does not do the mechanical work of removing or replacing the radiator from a vehicle or piece of equipment. That job is left to the mechanics, Miller said.By David Peck
