Dry Bar Comedy in Lovell Monday
Plenty of tickets are still available for a standup comedy show next week in Lovell that promotors say is sure to please.
The North Big Horn Arts Council has booked the Dry Bar Comedy Tour of Provo, Utah, at the Hyart Theatre on Monday, April 20.
Arts Council board member Bryan Baird of Cowley said the show is one of many the organization hopes to bring to the community in the coming months.
“We hope to fill the theater and make it a repeating event,” Baird said, noting that Dry Bar carries comedians whose acts are safe for families.
A trio of comedians will perform in Lovell: Rodney Norman, Paul Sheffield and Seth Tippetts.
“They have a pretty strong presence on YouTube and other social media outlets,” Baird said. “Each will do a standup routine of 20 to 25 minutes. We’re really hoping people will come and have a great time and have some laughs as winter turns to spring.
“Each of these comedians is different, so everybody attending should get some laughs out of it. Of course, if there’s more people there for the guys to feed off of, the more fun it will be for everybody.”
Baird said the show will be an indication of how the new arts council can operate in the future.
“The more people come, the more we can do,” he said. “We’d like to make Lovell a place that performers will love to come. The Hyart is a great venue for all different kinds of things. We’d like to fill it up frequently.
“I hope we have enough people there that, when they go back home, it will be something they all want to do in the future – plant Lovell in their minds as a great place to perform.”
As stated on the Dry Bar Comedy website, “We fly out professional stand-up comedians from across the country who come recommended to us as having generally family-friendly content for their performances. … Most people we’ve surveyed have found the show to range from ‘pretty clean’ to ‘squeaky clean.’”
Tickets for the Lovell performance are on sale now at www.ticketor.com/nbhac. Tickets are $16 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are also available at Barber Mafia, Wild Edge and the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We’ve tried to ensure that the show is affordable to everyone. A show of this caliber would be much more expensive elsewhere,” Baird said. “Please get your tickets now and be prepared to have a great time.”
The show begins at 6 p.m. on April 20.
