Lady Grizz JV battle through tough weekend against Buffs, Wranglers
The Rocky Mountain junior varsity girls dropped two games over the weekend, falling to Greybull on Friday and Shoshoni on Saturday.
On Friday, Rocky Mountain traveled to Greybull and lost to the Buffs 34-10. There were only two scorers in the game, with Brooklyn Larsen and Leah Haslem each finishing with 5 points.
The top rebounders against Greybull were Larsen with six, Avery Thomas with four and Kennedy Brimhall with four.
The next day, the Lady Grizz returned home to face the Shoshoni Wranglers and came up short, 42-35. Brimhall led all scorers with 13 points. Larsen, Charlee Welling, Haslem and Annie Crosby each added 5.
Leading rebounders in the Shoshoni game were Brimhall and Crosby with five each, Thomas with four and Daizy Weinand with three.
Assistant coach Stacey Haslem shared her thoughts on the weekend:
“Friday’s game was disappointing. It was a team we had beaten earlier in the season. However, on Saturday they came back, made adjustments and competed much harder. They played with more purpose and as a team. It was great to see their response.”
This Friday, the Lady Grizz will travel to Thermopolis for their final conference game. The JV girls play at 2 p.m. and the varsity girls at 5:30 p.m.
