LMS grapplers find success at early tournaments

The Lovell Bulldog middle school wrestlers started their season last week in Cody with confidence and momentum. The wrestlers earned many high finishes at their first invitational on October 25. In Division A, Alex Mcillwaine (190), Connor Harris (145) and Garrett Henley (132) all came out in second place. Landon Asay (110) took third and Jordan Mangus (190) placed fourth.

In Division B, Carson Marberry (84) placed first, Abiel Torres (105) second and Britt Asay (132) third.

On the girls side, Adalyn Waltjen (94-98), Analija Garcia (96-105) and Treleah Two Two (108-113) all placed third. Angelina Lauhoff (69-73), Evalina Garcia (97-103), Hadley Henton (110-115) and Leila Brown (96-105) all came out fourth in their weight class.

This past Saturday at the Worland Invitational, the Bulldogs continued to perform strong across the divisions, showing early consistency as the season begins.

In Division A, Harris (155) finished in first, and both Henley (138) and Mcillwaine (190) placed second, each earning 10 points for their team. Landon Asay (115) came out in third, and Hayden Harshman (105) and Xaden Baxendale (91) both finished in fourth.

In Division B, both Marberry (84-88) and Jamen Crosby (72-73) came out on top, taking first. Jace Jameson (99-102) and Kannon Bassett (72-73) placed second. Britt Asay (129-137) and Joel Henley (90-93) placed third. Carson Grant (79-82), Corbin Henley (120-125), Dalton Moss (82-87), Isaiah Leal (145-150) and Sean Leece (75-76) placed fourth for the Bulldogs, earning 4 points each.

In the girls division, both Evalina Garcia (90-97) and Two Two (113-117) were able to take third, and Coach Quinton Hecker noted, “These two are already showing steady progress early in the season.” Lauhoff (70-74), Bella Patina (95-98) and Henton (114-120) were able to take fourth.

“The wrestlers competed hard and are continuing to make great improvements every week,” Coach Hecker said.

The Bulldogs host Powell for a dual today (Thursday) at 5 p.m. at the LHS Winterholler Gym. The team will then travel to Riverton Saturday for an invitational, with wrestling starting at 10 a.m.
