Local swimmer with PHS near season’s end
As their season is swiftly coming to an end, the Powell girls swim team competed in their conference meet in Powell on October 24-25. They also had their “last chance meet” in Cody, which is a final shot to make it to State.
For the conference meet, swimmer Daisy Carpenter competed in the 100-yard backstroke, in which she placed fifth, and the 100-yard freestyle, in which she placed 11th. She also competed on the 200-yard medley relay team, which took second place, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team, which took fifth place.
During the last chance meet, Leah Sockey competed in the 100-yard freestyle, in which she placed seventh, and the 100-yard backstroke, in which she placed seventh also.
At the conclusion of both meets and the whole season, Carpenter qualified for State in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard breaststroke.
