Sanders accepts write-in nomination for Byron council
The Town of Byron now has a full slate of candidates for town council heading into the November 5 Wyoming General Election.
Current councilwoman Karma Sanders accepted her write-in votes last Wednesday, Sept.4, after originally not filing for re-election, Big Horn County deputy clerk Ruth Craft said.
Only Toby Turnupseed filed for office ahead of the primary election in August and received 77 votes, but there were 67 write-in votes. Stephanie Wagner received 28 write-in votes, Michael Brightly 26. Both accepted their write-in nomination immediately following the election. Sanders received four write-in votes and accepted the write-in nomination last week.
Two candidates for each council seat advance from the primary to the general election, and all five municipalities in North Big Horn County had room for at least one write-in nomination.
For town council seats, a person must receive at least four write-in votes to be nominated and placed on the ballot in November.
