Suzanne Brown Anderson
May 26, 1942 – May 23, 2026
Suzanne Brown Anderson, 83, of Fruit Heights, Utah, passed away Saturday morning, May 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren after a courageous battle with CML cancer.
She was born May 26, 1942, in Lovell to Frank and Delilah Brown. Suzanne grew up in a close and loving family, the youngest of three children. She had a strong love for music. She played multiple musical instruments and achieved recognition in voice and singing. She won countless awards and ribbons in baking and sewing.
After graduating from Lovell High School in 1959, she attended Brigham Young University from 1960 to 1964, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in speech pathology and audiology. Upon graduation Suzanne was employed with Davis County School District in Farmington, Utah.
Suzanne also worked at Primary Children’s Hospital and the University of Utah Rehabilitation Department prior to returning to the University of Wyoming on a teaching assistantship, where she received her Master’s Degree in speech pathology and psychology, along with her certification of Clinical Competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association on January 1, 1969.
Suzanne married Louis Anderson on October 11, 1969, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and together they built a beautiful life, raising two beautiful children, Brooke and Brandt, while Lou served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force. Their first home and location together was in Indiana at Grissom AFB (1970-1973). Brooke was born during this assignment on January 12, 1971.
They then moved to Laramie, where Lou received his Master’s Degree and Suzanne taught at the University of Wyoming, teaching graduate students in the speech pathology program. While teaching, Suzanne received the NSSHA Faculty Award from the University of Wyoming. Brandt was born October 31, 1975.
Soon after Brandt was born, they relocated to Vandenberg AFB, California, three years later moving to Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, and two years later to Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana, before returning back to Salt Lake City to be with family. They built their forever home in Fruit Heights, where they finally retired.
Suzanne served many students as speech pathologist through the many places they lived. She received great recognition in Bossier Parish School District as Teacher of the Year (1983) and was inducted into the Gamma Beta Phi honors society at Louisiana Tech University (1984).
Suzanne was thrilled to be back teaching in Davis School District in 1986, where she felt back at home. In 2001 she was inducted into the Davis School District Teacher Hall of Fame and continued to be part of the traumatic brain injury team and augmentative team, while working full time until her retirement in 2011.
After retirement from the Davis School District, she continued to serve others in many capacities. Suzanne always said, “My parents taught me, by example, that the greatest satisfaction one can receive is to be in the service of others.”
She continued up until her death to serve in many Ward and Stake callings, along with being an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, sitting on the board. There is not anyone she wouldn’t serve, visit or take dinner to. She was a “yes woman,” and if you asked she would do full-heartedly without any complaining.
Suzanne’s greatest accomplishment was her family, and her greatest calling came in being a grandmother to her three beautiful granddaughters, who she bragged about to anyone who would listen. She never missed a cheer competition, an award assembly, a graduation or even a wedding, which she fought the hardest to attend in her final days.
Suzanne was married to Lou for 46 years prior to his passing. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Louis Anderson, sister Thori (Ronald) Willis, brother James Frank Brown and parents Frank and Delilah Brown.
She is survived by her children, Brooke (Chris) Marston and Brandt (Krista) Anderson; and sweet grandchildren Kylee (Stratton) Jensen, Kambree Anderson and Brynlee Marston; along with her adoring furry companion Bentlee, who sat by her side and loved her unconditionally.
Suzanne’s family would like to thank the medical staff at Ogden Hematology and Layton Intermountain Infusion Clinic, along with the many friends, who helped run Suzanne to many appointments and medical care.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brother Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah. A morning visitation will be held Saturday, May 30, from 9:30 to 10:30, followed by the service at 11 at the Fruit Heights LDS Ward House, 901 South Mountain Road.
The Interment will be Monday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at the Lovell Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather at 1:30 for a graveside service and burial.

In lieu of flowers the family would encourage donations to the American Red Cross or ARUP blood services through monetary contributions or blood donations in Suzanne’s honor. The generosity of blood donors gave Suzanne precious time and comfort. The family is very grateful for the many donated bags of blood she received throughout her journey.
Though she will be deeply missed, Suzanne’s legacy of kindness, faith, service and unconditional love will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
