Valedictorian and salutatorian announced for Rocky Mountain
Valedictorian Seth Fuller and salutatorian Kaitlyn Hayes will address their fellow classmates, family and friends with inspirational speeches at the graduation ceremony at Rocky Mountain High School on May 24, at 7 p.m, in the RMHS gymnasium.[caption id="attachment_11261" align="alignright" width="200"]
Seth Fuller[/caption]Fuller completed his high school career with a 3.991 grade point average, Hayes with a 3.989 grade point average. Both students were involved in sports, student and other extra curricular activities in addition to their academic studies and took college courses that counted toward their GPAs.“We at Rocky Mountain High School are very proud of these students,” said school guidance counselor Tim Jones in a letter addressed to Big Horn County School District No. 1 board of trustees. “Their hard work and dedication has been proven throughout the past four years.”He noted that the students rose to the top of their class, which includes 32 students, stating that “many wonderful and talented students” were part of the graduating class of 2016.In addition to being an academically high achieving student, Fuller was on the swim team and participated in cross-country for three years. He was also a member of the student council, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). He said he plans to major in business and hopes to have his own business someday.Fuller said he plans to go on a two-year mission, which will take him to Europe and to Armenia before entering college. He is considering a number of colleges, including the University of Utah, Brigham Young University – Idaho and the University of Wyoming. Kaitlyn Hayes[/caption]few swimming scholarships but not at the schools he would like to attend.Fuller said he plans to keep his speech “light” but it will no doubt be on an inspirational topic.Hayes was also active in sports and other student activities. She was a member of the volleyball, track and competition cheerleading teams. She served on the student council and was a member of the NHS, SkillsUSA and FBLA programs during her high school career. She was actively involved in the school’s anti-bullying program, “Rachel’s Challenge.”Hayes has already accepted a scholarship to Northwest College in the Engineering program and plans to attend either the University of Wyoming or Black Hills State University. She has selected mechanical engineering as her career path.She said the topic of her speech to her fellow graduates is about “following your own path.”
