Recent Lovell High School graduate Parker Anderson was selected to compete for the North team in the annual Wyoming Coaches Association North vs. South All-Star boys basketball game held at Casper College on Saturday as the North defeated the South 80-69.
After a week full of practicing and team bonding activities to get to know one another, the graduated seniors from around the state took the court on Saturday for one final game of their high school careers.
“I was very honored to be a part of the team,” Anderson said. “I think the biggest highlight was just being able to play at a very high level of competitive basketball all week long in practice and then in the game.”
The North jumped out to a big first-quarter lead, 17-2, but the South rallied back and outscored the North 17-9 in the second quarter.
It was in the third quarter that Anderson showed off his skills as he knocked down shots and drove the lane for an impressive 13 points in the period.
“The game was very fun just because everyone there deserved to be there, and it was just high-quality basketball,” he added.
Anderson rounded out his performance by also nabbing eight rebounds in the game.
“It was nice to meet all of the players from around the state and to have one last high school game before leaving it all behind,” Anderson said as he prepares to leave on a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santa Fe, Argentina, soon.
Lovell High School head boys basketball coach Shane Durtsche was in attendance and thought Anderson represented himself and the North very well.
“He had a strong performance scoring and rebounding,” Durtsche said. “He also had a few assists in the game, including a really nice pass for a layup down the final stretch as the South was making a run at a comeback.
“He was in his element, and it was fun to watch him play with the best in the state.”
