Auditions coming up for ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
The newly revamped North Big Horn Arts Council is gearing up for the Christmastime community production of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” with auditions scheduled for early September.
Arts Council board member Bryan Baird said auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 9-10, at the Big Horn Federal hospitality room from 6 to 8 p.m. There is a piano in the room for audition purposes, and people with musical talent are encouraged to audition.
Once a cast is selected, rehearsals will begin in mid-September, with dates and times to be determined based on the actors’ schedules. The play will be directed by Sharon Hall.
The version of the play being staged features a smaller cast – at least three men and two women and more if possible – in the form of a 1940s live radio show, much like the Broadway production of the currently popular “Good Night, and Good Luck.” Baird said a sound effects person (foley artist) and a stage manager will be needed, as well.
Volunteers from the community will also be needed to help design and build the on-stage “studio” and obtain 1940s style props and apply makeup.
