Bighorn Canyon bus tour changed to September 6

The date of a bus tour of the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area has been changed.

Well known for the annual Lovell-Kane Area Museum bus tour of sites related to the former town of Kane in north Big Horn County, the museum will host a bus tour of the south district of the National Recreation Area and parts of Dryhead on Saturday, Sept. 6, not August 30, as originally announced.

“Interested in our area’s history? Join us for a bus tour down Highway 37 through the Bighorn Canyon NRA,” museum publicity reads. “We will stop and learn about various pioneers that lived in the area along the way, and we will be visiting the Hillsboro and Caroline Lockhart ranches.

“We will have guest storytellers to tell stories of the homesteaders  of the surrounding areas. If it hasn’t rained, we will go to Deadman.”

Tickets are $20 per person, and the tour will depart the museum at 9 a.m. Attendees are asked to bring their own lunch, but water is provided.

To reserve a seat, contact the Lovell-Kane Area Museum at 307-548-2396 or 307-272-0959.
