Bighorn Canyon seeks students for paid summer jobs
Are you, or someone you know, 15 through 18 years old and interested in a summer job at Bighorn Canyon?
Applications are being accepted for the park’s Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) summer employment program until May 3, 2024. Applications can be picked up at the Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Participants will get paid to work, learn and gain leadership skills. No prior experience is needed, just an eagerness to make a difference. YCC engages young people in meaningful work experiences at national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries, while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.
The YCC session dates for Bighorn Canyon are May 27 through August 16. Participants will be painting and staining throughout the park, working on a retaining wall at the Lockhart Ranch, clearing fire fuels around historic sites, performing landscaping projects, spraying weeds and helping with the aquatic invasive species program.
Participants will work 40 hours a week with varied schedules that may include working weekends. Housing is not available.
