Eight Lovell High School spirit squad members named all-conference
Eight members of the Lovell High School dance and cheerleading squads were honored recently by being named all-conference by the Wyoming Spirit Coaches Association.
Named to the Class 3A West All-Conference Dance team were senior Ella Spanier, junior Candace Walker and sophomores Juliette Caldwell and Kelce Winterholler.
Named to the Class 3A West All-Conference Cheer first team were Spanier, senior Haley Sanders and juniors Lindsey Scheid-Leonhardt and Avery Wardell. Named second-team all-conference was senior Savannah Prentiss.
“These selections reflect exceptional performance, leadership, technique and dedication within cheer and dance programs across Wyoming,” a WSCA press release stated. “Athletes were nominated and evaluated by coaches statewide, with scoring and video review processes determining final honors.
“We are honored to recognize these athletes for their hard work and commitment. Their resilience, leadership and passion are a true reflection of the strength of Wyoming’s spirit community.”
First-year dance coach Madison Hecker had praise for her four all-conference dancers:
“Ella Spanier, our senior captain, shines with strong technique, confident leadership and a powerful stage presence,” Hecker said.
“Candace Walker, a hardworking junior who is always prepared, gives 110% in and out of practice and sets the standard of commitment for our team.
“Juliette Caldwell, a positive, dedicated dancer who believes in her team, sets high expectations and lifts everyone around her with her encouragement.
“Kelce Winterholler, always early and ready to work, puts in extra time on technique and brings a focused attitude to every practice.”
Likewise, cheer coach Nicole Hendershot heaped praise on her five all-conference cheer team members:
“Selected as an All-State 2A cheerleader as a sophomore, Ella (Spanier) is a natural performer with strong skills across all areas of cheer,” Hendershot said. “Her extensive dance background sets her apart and enhances her performance quality. Her strength has been a significant asset in stunting, and she consistently supports team growth by helping teach and encouraging other members.
“Haley (Sanders) is a strong performer who consistently radiates joy and enthusiasm. She is a dependable base in stunting and is always willing to support her teammates as they learn new stunting skills. As one of this year’s team captains, she demonstrates outstanding leadership and sets a positive example for the entire team.
“Over the past three years, Lindsey (Scheid-Leonhardt) has shown remarkable growth as a cheerleader. She has consistently been one of our strongest flyers and is always willing to step outside her comfort zone to learn new skills. As a team captain this year, she leads by example and continues to push herself and others to improve.
“Avery (Wardell) is a strong athlete whose physical ability translates well to cheerleading. She is focused, disciplined and a hard worker, consistently striving to improve her skills and contribute to the team’s success.
“Savannah (Prentiss) joined the cheer program last year and has been a wonderful addition to the team. She has quickly developed into a strong flyer and consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and a willingness to try new skills, contributing to the team’s continued growth.”
