Eight Lovell wrestlers snag first place in Cody

The Lovell Middle School Bulldog wrestling team kicked off their season at the Cody Invitational on Saturday. The team managed to reel in some tough wins with eight wrestlers taking first place in their respective brackets.

Evan Rusch plowed through his opponents at the tournament, going 3-0 and forging first place in the 91-95 Division B weight class.

Braxton Layne pinned all three of his opponents in the 98–104 Division B bracket to land him in first place.

Brayden Harris took first place in the 119-126 Division B weight class, wrestling to a 3-0 record. Harris pinned two of his opponents within the first period and worked for a 13-4 major decision in the third match.  

Connor Harris went 2-0 to grab first place in the 124-132 Division B weight class after pinning both of his opponents.

Emiliano Silva took first place in the 147-155 Division B bracket. Silva pinned all three of his opponents in under a minute to take first place.

Jordan Mangus took first place in the 151-164 Division B bracket by pinning all three of his opponents.

Christian Garcia pinned his opponent twice to land him in first place of the 185 Division B bracket. 

Vada Schmidt snagged first place this weekend in the Girls 122-132 weight division with a record of 2-1. Though she lost her second match due to sudden victory against Kylie Geis of Thermopolis, she managed to pull ahead to first place after pinning Sydney Smith of Riverton, an opponent Geis lost to earlier on in the bracket.

Fourth place: Joseph Durfee, Division A 91, 1-3 record; Isaac Blau, Division A 132, 0-3 record; Carson Grant, Division B 71-77, 0-3 record; Alex Addison, Division B 117-126, 0-3 record, Grant Rose, Division B 119-122, 0-3 record; Oakley Abraham, Girls Division 61-67, 0-3 record.

This Saturday, the Lovell Bulldogs will be wrestling at the Rocky Mountain Invitational in Cowley starting at 10 a.m.
