Explore history of Hillsboro Ranch on August 16 with Wyoming Walks

Lace up your walking shoes and grab your water bottle. The University of Wyoming Extension statewide Wyoming Walks program is headed to Hillsboro Ranch near Lovell on Saturday, Aug. 16, for a unique blend of history, health and high desert scenery.

Participants will meet at 8 a.m. at the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area parking lot east of Lovell, then caravan in private vehicles for a 30-minute drive to the historic Hillsboro Ranch site. Expect to spend about half the day exploring the area, taking in the stories and sights of this remote and fascinating ghost ranch.

This guided walk will be led by Christy Fleming of Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area and Melissa Cook, a University of Wyoming Extension Educator. The event is part of the University of Wyoming Extension’s statewide Wyoming Walks series.

This walk is handicapped accessible. Visitors who need to can drive directly down to the ranch and explore the area at their own pace, making it ideal for those with mobility challenges who still want to experience the magic of this historic site.

Participation is free, and registration is not required. Just show up, follow the yellow UW Extension flag, and prepare for a memorable morning of movement and discovery.
