From farm fields to rodeo arena, meet Wyoming’s new rodeo queen

When Dusty Miller mounts her horse, she carries with her five generations of Wyoming farming heritage and a pioneering spirit that’s blazing new trails. 

Recently crowned Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2025, the 23-year-old Cowley native represents a unique blend of her family’s agricultural roots and her own passion for rodeo. 

“Rodeo has been my heart and soul since I was 9 years old,” Miller said. “It’s more than a sport to me, it’s a way of life that’s shaped my character, taught me resilience and fueled my dreams.”

Miller, who was crowned at the Wyoming State Fair, brings a diverse background to her new role. A graduate of Northwest College, Miller is still pursuing her dreams in barrel racing. 

As the first generation in her family to embrace rodeo, Miller has already made significant strides in the sport.

“Those all-night drives, the sound of the crowd and the energy that makes me feel unstoppable is why I love rodeo,” she said. 

Her journey to the crown included competing as Miss Cody Nite Rodeo 2024 and participating in a rigorous four-day pageant featuring modeling, interviews and speeches. 

“Wyoming and small-town life mean roots, resilience and community,” she said. “Growing up here taught me the values of hard work, kindness and the importance of supporting one another, no matter the challenges. In small towns, everyone feels like family.”

Her reign as Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2025 begins January 1 with appearances at the Denver Stock Show & Rodeo and the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo.

The year will culminate with her competing for the Miss Rodeo America 2026 title in Las Vegas.

Those wishing to support Miller’s journey can attend her coronation fundraiser and dinner on November 16 at 5 p.m. at the Lovell Community Center. 

The event will feature food, live and silent auctions, music and dancing. Dinner tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children, with $5 admission for the auction and dance only.
