Garry Allen Fink

Garry Allen Fink, 76, of Billings passed away September 3, 2026, at 12:44 p.m., surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born July 28, 1950, in Lovell to Herman and Minnie Fink.

Garry grew up in Lovell alongside his three older brothers, Ken, Ron and Don. Ron and Don were twins, and Garry was the beloved baby of the family. 

He graduated from Lovell High School and worked as a bricklayer for several years before returning to school to pursue a career in architecture.

Garry met the love of his life, Lori Jean Fink, through mutual friends at a local gathering. They married on May 22, 1982, and shared more than 44 years together. They welcomed two daughters, Shyla and Melissa. Garry’s devotion to Lori and their girls remained at the heart of everything he did.

He was a jokester through and through. His family cannot remember a dinner when he wasn’t telling a joke or finding some way to make everyone around the table laugh. He was the sunshine in their lives, filling their days with laughter, warmth and love.

Some of the family’s most treasured memories were made during the many camping trips Garry took them on. He taught his daughters all the important parts of camping — from building a fire to catching a fish — and gave them a love for adventure, the outdoors and time spent together.

Garry loved oldies music and could often be found singing along to his favorite songs. At any given moment, he might reach for Lori, Shyla or Melissa and pull them into an impromptu dance in the living room. Those spontaneous moments of music, dancing and laughter perfectly captured the joy he brought into their home.

A gifted craftsman, Garry created beautiful stained-glass lamps and frames that his family will cherish for generations. He was also a talented woodworker, who could build just about anything, and, as his family lovingly remembers, he could usually make it both better and cheaper than anything found in a store.

His family will forever carry his familiar words with them: “I like you. I love you. Have a good day,” a saying that began when his granddaughter Tristyn was just a toddler. When asked a question he wasn’t quite ready to answer, Garry could also be counted on to say, “When the apple is ripe, it will fall from the tree.” His treasured sayings, wonderful sense of humor and unmistakable personality will continue to bring smiles to everyone who loved him.

Garry was a man of deep faith, who loved the Lord and was involved in his church. He faced the end of his life knowing that Heaven was waiting for him. Although his family’s hearts are broken by his absence, they find comfort in knowing he is home with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Minnie Fink, and brother Ken Fink.

Garry is survived by his loving wife, Lori; daughters Shyla Fink and Melissa Fink; grandchildren Tristyn Davison, Jaycee Schlueter and Ethan Schlueter; great-grandchildren Bryar Davison and Walker Davison; and brothers Ron and Don Fink.

Garry will be cremated, and his family will gather to celebrate his remarkable life at a later date. Details regarding his celebration of life will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.

Garry was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure. His laughter, craftsmanship, faith and unconditional love will live on in the family he treasured so dearly.
