The Good Cup grand opening this week
Hillside Floral in Lovell is opening a coffee cafe called The Good Cup in their store. The soft opening is this Friday, and the grand opening is this Saturday, Shelley Hill, owner of Hillside Floral, said.
In addition to coffee, the cafe will have teas, Tiki Breeze brand energy drinks and Sodalicious drinks. Tiki Breeze is a plant based energy drink. Sodalicious drinks are sodas with different flavors in it, like Dr.Pepper and vanilla, to create a vanilla cream drink.
The coffee is a blend unique to The Good Cup from a Cody coffee roaster called the Good Cup Blend. Eventually, they plan to sell the coffee grounds in store for people who want to make their own drinks at home. A variety of coffee types will be served like lattes, cappuccinos, frappiccinos, mochas and pumpkin spice drinks.
Hill said she isn’t letting the preset menu limit what customers can order.
“The point is like, if you come in and say, ‘I want a cortado,’ for example, as long as you can say it has this, this and this, I think we can make that. We’re willing to make that if you’re patient,” she said. “I’m fully confident that we can come up with that drink for you.”
Two employees of The Good Cup received training at a barista school in Seattle on how to brew espresso, make coffee drinks and use the machine. Over the course of two eight-hour days, they learned how to be expert coffee makers, including making latte art.
Hill said her daughter Kenzie came up with the idea of having a cafe in the floral shop. In the future, The Good Cup plans to sell baked goods like muffins and lunch options like bagel sandwiches. She plans to introduce food to the menu in about a month. Additionally, Hill is planning to eventually offer coffee delivery.
Hill is excited for the grand opening.
“I think it’s going to be lots of fun. I’m excited to see people. They can come in. We have some tables they can sit at and enjoy their coffee. I am just kind of curious to see how people respond to it,” she said.
