Green picked for Wyoming Shrine Bowl

Lovell High School senior Beau Green has been selected to play in the 2016 Wyoming Shrine Bowl all-star football game to be played Saturday, June 11, at Casper Natrona High School.The announcement was made recently by Shrine Bowl of Wyoming Executive Director John Cundall.[caption id="attachment_10938" align="alignright" width="186"] Lovell senior Beau Green rolls out for a pass attempt during an early-season game last fall. David Peck photo[/caption]Green led the Lovell Bulldogs to an 8-2 record in 2015 as the starting quarterback and as a starting safety and linebacker.Lovell coach Doug Hazen said Green was likely chosen to play quarterback for the North squad, though he is equally capable of playing on defense.“What’s tough about the Shrine Bowl is that there are a lot of all-state players to choose from,” Hazen said.Hazen had high praise for his senior quarterback.“He was the leader of our team who brought diverse skills as a quarterback,” Hazen said. “He has a strong arm but also the skills to run an offense that involves the quarterback running. He runs just as well.“Defensively, he’s a physical kid. He’s got the size, athleticism and physicality to play wherever they want him. He did a good job for us in run support filling alleys, and he was a sure tackler. He was a center fielder at safety making sure nothing got over the top of us, and he was able to recognize formations and help guys with alignment.”Most of all, Green was a winner, Hazen said, quarterbacking the team to a 9-1 record in 2013, 4-5 in 2014 and 8-2 in 2015 for a three-year record of 21-8.“As a three-year starter he’s seen a lot of varsity football, more than most kids,” Hazen said. “He got to be the starting quarterback for three years so he has more experience than most guys.”Green was third in Class 2A last season in all-purpose yardage with 1,875 yards, according to Wyopreps.com. He completed 72 of 168 passes for 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns, with only three interceptions, and he rushed for 783 yards and nine touchdowns on 145 attempts, a 5.4-yard average.On defense, Green was third on the team in defensive stats with 121 points in 10 games, with 57 tackles (22 solo), seven pass breakups and four interceptions.
