James Howard “Jim” Galusha
July 28, 1959 – Jan. 11, 2014Funeral services for James Howard “Jim” Galusha are Thursday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. at Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull. Jim, 54, died of cancer Jan. 11 in Thermopolis.Jim received his education in Greybull and graduated from Greybull High School in 1977. He attended college in Casper and Powell, pursuing interests in electronics and music. He worked for Burroughs Imaging Systems in Casper from 1982-84 at which time he went to work as a field engineer for Mosler Safe and Alarm.He married Shawna Wood in 1980. They had a son, Brandon, and were later divorced.Jim moved back to Greybull in 1986. He worked at Wheeler’s IGA in Basin for 15 years. In January 2005 he went to work for Wyo-Ben.He was a past officer and trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3086 in Basin.Jim enjoyed all kinds of music, especially classic rock and roll. He played the saxophone, bass guitar and guitar. He and his friend David Van Gelder played in bands off and on over the years and he enjoyed the music “gigs” and the songs they put together.He married Kim Leithead Ferguson in September 2004. They shared happy times together listening to music, watching movies, camping and spending time in the mountains until her death in January of 2011.Jim was an avid hunter; he enjoyed visiting and relaxing with family and friends. He was a humble man, very accepting of life and was concerned more about others than himself.His grandparents; his father Wray T. Galusha; his stepfather Norman “Ben” Benedict; his mother Virginia “Eileen” Benedict, and his wife Kim preceded him in death.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Sarah Galusha, and his grandson, Logan, all of Andrews, Texas; two sisters, Wrayleen Marcus of Greybull and Minnie Miller of Thermopolis; stepbrother Leonard Benedict of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and his father-in-law, Scott Leithead.Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery in Basin.Memorials in Jim’s name can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
