Junior varsity Lady Grizz end season with tough loss at Thermopolis
The Lady Grizz junior varsity wrapped up their season Friday with a tough loss on the road.
The team traveled to Thermopolis for its final game and fell 55-18. Four players scored for the Lady Grizz. Leah Haslem led with 8 points, followed by Brooklyn Larsen with 6, Kennedy Brimhall with 3 and Charlee Welling with 1.
On the boards, Larsen pulled down eight rebounds to lead the team. Avery Thomas added three box-outs, while Haslem and Daizy Weinand each contributed 2.
Assistant coach Stacey Haslem reflected on the season and the team’s growth.
“Our JV team faced challenges all season and never backed down,” she said. “All of them had significant growth, personal victories and team victories. The effort, energy and heart they put into it were incredible to watch. I am proud to be their coach.”
Although the JV schedule has ended, the players will remain with the team for postseason play. All of the junior varsity girls will continue traveling with the Lady Grizz. Annie Crosby and Weinand will serve as varsity managers, while the remaining players will be available if needed to play during the regional tournament.
The Lady Grizz will travel to Riverton on Thursday for Regionals, where they are scheduled to face Big Piney at 1 p.m.
