Lady Bulldogs stay ‘relentless’ on the road

The Lovell High School volleyball team hit the road last week for a match in Red Lodge, where the Lady Bulldogs swept the Lady Rams on Friday evening. The varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams all won their matches.

Coach Tera Kostelecky said the Lady Bulldogs succeeded in a loud environment because of their improving on-court communication, a skill they will continue to refine as the season progresses.

The Lady Rams came out strong in the first set and kept the Lady Bulldogs on their toes, but Lovell pulled away for a 25-18 victory. The Lady Bulldogs took the second set 25-19, then closed out the sweep with a 25-15 win in the third as Red Lodge ran out of steam.

With Homecoming this week, the Lady Bulldogs are focusing on internal growth. Kostelecky said the team is working on mastering focus and “learning how to leave outside thoughts/influences at the door to be 100% committed to our team during practice and match times.”

The team’s relentless approach extends beyond the court.

“We have a strong group of girls that always look to be better and do better,” Kostelecky said.

Lovell will travel to Worland today (Thursday) for a 3A Northwest Conference match, with the freshmen scheduled to play at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.
