Lady Grizz take two of three from Greybull
The Rocky Mountain Middle School girls basketball teams won two of three games at home Tuesday evening against conference foe Greybull.
Rocky dropped the A game 28-21 but won the B game 13-10 and the C game 25-17.
The Lady Grizz trailed by just two points after three quarters in the A game, 16-14, but Greybull pulled away in the fourth with a 12-7 advantage.
Sawyer Bassett led Rocky Mountain with 11 points, and Taylor Grandalen added 8 points, Finnley Weinand 2.
“Our A team battled hard against Greybull,” Coach Taylor Winland said. “Neither team could create separation, and the game came down to the wire. Super proud of the girls. We executed our game plan for the most part, but we could not get that key stop at the end.”
In the B game, Greybull shut out the Lady Grizz 4-0 in the first quarter, but Rocky came back to outscore the visitors 13-6 the rest of the way. Kielley Brimhall scored 10 points for the Grizz, Kate Crosby 2 and Tianna Christiansen 1.
“The girls played hard in the Greybull game,” Coach Julie Winland said. “I’m super proud of them. We got some good shots during the game.”
Rocky pulled away from Greybull in the C game with an 8-2 advantage in the third quarter. Brimhall led Rocky with 8 points, and Lauren Hedges added 6, Paisley Malson 5, Crosby 4 and Alexis Clark 2.
“It’s been fun to see their improvement and how they are getting more aggressive and working well as a team,” Coach Maddy Grandalen said of her squad.
The Lady Grizz play in Lovell Thursday, host Shoshoni Saturday and host Riverside Tuesday.
