Lady Grizz wrap up season at tournaments
This past weekend the Rocky Mountain Middle School Lady Grizz A and B volleyball teams split up for their final games of the season. The A team traveled to Greybull for the Big Horn Conference Tournament, while B team went to Burlington.
“It was a tough weekend for the Lady Grizz. … We got caught making uncharacteristic mistakes,” coach Lacey Bassett remarked after the A team dropped their two matches.
The Lady Grizz played Thermopolis first, falling 25-21, 25-15. Next, they played Riverside and gave up this game, as well. The Lady Grizz won the first set 25-17, but Riverside won the second and third sets, 25-22 and 15-10.
“It’s never fun to end a season like that, but I was proud of our team and the improvements they made,” Bassett said.
The B team went to Burlington for their end of season jamboree and split two matches. The Lady Grizz dropped both sets in their first match against Burlington, 25-17, 25-18. The B team then came home with a win after they played the Riverside Rebels. Rocky won both sets, 25-21, 25-18.
Coach Julie Winland is very proud of her team and concluded the season by saying, “The girls came a long way and improved throughout the season.”
Although the RMMS C team did not have any games this weekend, coach Taylor Winland noted, “The C team greatly improved. They were able to come together as a cohesive team. I’m proud of every one of them.”
