Letters of support sought for Orchard Bench Road grant

Acting county engineer Matt Leonhardt told the Big Horn County commissioners on February 6 that letters of support are needed for a grant that would help the county redo Orchard Bench Road.
Letters should come from landowners in that area. The letters should say the road needs repair and there are safety issues. One of those issues in a narrow bridge on the road at Antelope Creek. Letters of support should be sent to the county engineer office through email engineering@bighorncountywy.gov. They can also be dropped off.
Leonhardt gave an update on the road heaves on the Meeteetse Highway. He said the patches that were done after the road was cut for water lines are bad again. The chemical reaction between the water and sand are causing the issues.
The contractor was planning to go out and mill the heaves. When the temps warm up, they will remove the flow fill and use pit run instead. Leonhardt planned to check on the spots after the meeting.
The GP Road project was almost complete. Also discussed was a request for a county road vacation off Greybull River Road and a request for a larger culvert for a canal district.
LAND PLANNING/AIRPORTS
Paul Thur and Stephanie May gave their department reports. The commissioners approved three lot leases and a liability agreement for the drag races.
An executive session was held with Karl Berrtagnole/B&G Industries to discuss contract negations.
OTHER BUSINESS
• An executive session was held with Sheriff Ken Blackburn regarding Title 25 holds.
• Jeremy Pouska gave a facilities management update.
