Local churches honor Christmas with services

Several of the churches in North Big Horn County will hold special services Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to honor the birth of the Christ Child.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will hold Christmas Eve Mass December 24 at 6 p.m., and Christmas Day Mass will be December 25 at 11 a.m. There will also be Mary Mother of God Mass on January 1 at 11 a.m. Father Andrew Kinstetter will preside over the Mass.

Water of Life Church in Cowley will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. under the direction of Pastor Johannes Slabbert.

The Bible Church will have a candlelight service Christmas Eve from 6 to 7 p.m. The worship service will include familiar Christmas carols, special music and a devotional led by Justin Henderson.

The United Methodist Church of Lovell will hold a candlelight service Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. under the direction of Pastor Janita Krayniak.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will present lessons and carols on Christmas Eve at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Jacob Benson will hold a Divine Service Christmas morning at 9:30. 

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will not have Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services but will have sacrament services December 22 at the following times: Byron Ward at 9 a.m., Cowley First Ward at 11:30 a.m., Cowley Second Ward at 9 a.m., Lovell First Ward at 9 a.m., Lovell Second Ward at 10:30 a.m., Lovell Third Ward at 10:30 a.m., Lovell Fourth Ward at 10:30 a.m. in Byron and Lovell Fifth Ward at 9 a.m. The Care Center Branch will meet at New Horizons Care Center at 1:30 p.m.

The annual Stake Choir Christmas Concert will be presented Sunday, Dec. 22, at 6 p.m.

The Church of God will not have special Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services but will conduct regular weekend services, as will the Assembly of God church.
