Lovell’s Days Golf Tournament set for Saturday
Lovell’s Days is approaching quickly with the golf tournament set to kick off the week of activities on Saturday, June 20. The event was moved up a week as a way to create a more convenient time.
“Most tournaments we do start in the morning before it gets too hot in the summer months, and this one typically goes after the parade when it’s hot and when other events in town are happening,” explained Pete Baxendale, an organizer and sponsor for the tournament. “I felt like moving it might bring in some teams to play that are typically busy on the Saturday of Lovell’s Day.”
The tournament is sponsored by Midway Construction and Dirtwork, and they will be supplying lunch to the playing teams.
Registrations for the three-man scramble tournament are available at the Foster Gulch Golf Course clubhouse in person or by calling 548-2445. The entry fee is $50 per person, and registration will close once all 16 team spots are filled. Check-in on Saturday is from 8 to 9 a.m. with the tournament set to start after all teams are checked in. There will be cash payouts for the first- and second-place gross and first- and second-place net as well as cash flag prizes.
“In order to make a successful town celebration, I think we all need to do our part to add to the festivities. The golf tournament has always been part of Lovell’s Days, and when it was canceled for a couple of years, I decided to step in and sponsor it,” Baxendale said
A Father’s Day apparel sale will also be going on during the event where all clothing in the clubhouse will be 25-50% off. This sale runs from Friday, June 19, through Sunday.
