Lovell Farmers Market opens this Friday

It’s a date circled on calendars across the area: Friday, August 2, the first farmers market of the season in Lovell.

The 2024 Lovell Farmers Market will be held every Friday at Armory Park from 4:30 to 6 p.m. August 2 through September 27.

Armory Park is located at Oregon Avenue and Sixth Street in Lovell.

According to organizer Sharron Nicholls, though this week’s market will not yet have corn, a number of other popular vendors, around 10 to 12, will be attending the market.

This week’s vendors include Amish baked goods, Venezuelan empanadas, garden vegetables, cookies and baked goods, Molly’s tamales, jellies and jams, crocheted items and 3D printer toys, Nicholls said, adding that corn should be offered in a couple of weeks.

Door prizes will be offered.

Nicholls said she took the reins of the farmers market in 2015 with the help of husband Duane and still enjoys organizing the weekly event, which has become a weekly community gathering place.

“I’ve enjoyed putting it together,” she said. “It’s grown unbelievably. We see a lot of old friends.”
