As the new semester starts, the members of our local FFA chapter are looking back on our season so far and forward to a spring full of competition and growth. From cleaning the local football field to delivering Christmas cards to our senior citizens, the students have been proving that they are willing to work hard for a good outcome.

The year kicked off with a focus on giving back. Recognizing the importance of food security, the chapter organized a canned food drive on Halloween to ensure no neighbor has to face an empty pantry. The spirit of giving continued into the holiday season as members hand-crafted Christmas cards for the local senior center, bringing festive cheer to our community’s elders. Our new members and officers also got the chance to attend Fire/CPC and learn more leadership skills.

While the fall was about service, the spring is about skill and competition. The chapter is currently gearing up for FFA Week, a nationwide celebration of agricultural education. After that, the chapter will jump into their CDEs, where they will test their knowledge in everything from livestock evaluation to agricultural sales. One of the most anticipated events on the calendar is the annual labor auction March 21 at the community center. This event allows community members to hire FFA students for a day of work and helps the students raise money for travel costs and scholarships. It’s a wonderful way for residents to support the next generation of agriculturalists.

Finally, all roads lead to the Wyoming State Convention. This is the end of the FFA year, where members from across the state will gather to compete, receive awards, elect new officers and celebrate the future of the industry.

Whether it’s sorting heifers at sunrise or advocating for better food access on reservations, the work our FFA members do today is preparing them to be the leaders of tomorrow. As we move into this busy spring season, we invite the community to continue standing behind these hard-working students.
