The young Lovell Mustang A American Legion Baseball squad is off to a bit of a slow start so far this season.

The Mustangs opened the season in Sheridan against the Sheridan Troopers May 9 and dropped a doubleheader 10-0 and 8-1. A week later, on Saturday, May 16, the Mustangs hosted Powell and fell to the Pioneers 8-0 and 2-0.

Rocco Rael was solid on the mound for the Mustangs Saturday, allowing two unearned runs in 6 1/3 innings of work. Kannon Owens pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed no baserunners.

The Mustangs will travel to Riverton Friday for an 8 p.m. contest, then meet the Sheridan Jets Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and the Lander Legends at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Lovell C/B team will travel to Powell today (Thursday) to open the season against the Pioneers at 5:30 p.m., then will host Thermopolis Saturday, May 30, for a doubleheader at 3 and 5 p.m.
