On the morning of Aug. 13, 2014, Mike Draper, a loving husband and father, was called home. He was born on Aug. 9, 1954, to Robert and Lou Draper of Herlong, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Dan Pool of Edgar, Mont.
He was a member of Living Word of Powell. Mike worked at Georgia Pacific for 30-plus years and had many friends. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and was always looking for the next big buck to add to his collection. Some of his happiest times were when he was hunting and sharing his knowledge and experiences of hunting with his loved ones. His family and friends remember Mike as a straight shooter in both the hunting field and in conversation. He was a man of unshakeable strength, who at his weakest was still considered a “rock” by all that knew him. He was faithful to his Savior and never feared the day he would join him. Mike is fondly remembered and will be sorely missed, but will never be forgotten.
Mike is survived by his wife, Vickie, of 36 years; their three daughters Jennifer (Francis) of Nampa, Idaho, Melissa (Joe) of Lovell, Christina (Frank) of Lovell; seven grandchildren and brother Doug of Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. at the Northeast Park on Quebec (next to Lovell Camper Park). All are welcome to come and celebrate his life. Casual wear is welcome; “camo” is preferred.
