Millie Armstrong
Dec. 16, 1934 – Sept. 7, 2025
Mildred “Millie” Armstrong, 90, of Frannie passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2025.
Born on December 16, 1934, in Deckerville, Michigan, to James and Lila
Willis, Millie was the oldest of four children with sisters Ella Mae and Neva and brother Lee.
At just 16 years old, she married the love of her life, Joseph Armstrong, on September 8, 1951, while he was home on leave during the Korean War. Their marriage was a lifelong partnership, lasting nearly 62 years until Joseph’s passing in 2013. Together they raised four
children, Michial, Kathleen, Sher and Joseph.
Millie lived her life to the fullest. She was not a spectator and was never one to sit on the sidelines. Life was never dull with Millie around. Her lifelong dream was to live in Wyoming, which she fulfilled in 1980. She had a deep love for the mountains, especially the Big Horns, and was always ready for adventure.
She was also a gifted artist, quilter and crocheter, creating beauty with her hands and sharing it with those around her. Above all, Millie’s strong faith in Jesus guided her throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the Powell Church of God, where her presence and spirit will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lila Willis, husband Joseph Armstrong and great-granddaughter Charli Murphy.
Millie is survived by her children, Michial (Jody) Armstrong, Kathleen (John) Gedney, Sher Jolley and Joseph (Trina) Armstrong; grandchildren Jason (Kelly) Gedney, Kallie (Keith) Carlson, Joshua (Stephanie) Armstrong, Amanda (Kyle) Murphy, Kolt (Sharae) Bischoff, Danielle Armstrong, Tyrel Harrison, Janelle (Kris) Henry, Ryan Marsh, Jordan (Joe) Greaves, and Kayla (Lance) Dunning; 24 great-grandchildren; and siblings Ella Mae Ritchie, Neva (Gary) Cleland and Lee Willis.
Millie’s life was a blessing and her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Powell Church of God, 137 West Second St.
