The Lovell Mustangs C team qualified to compete in the Legion C state tournament to be held in Evanston this weekend.

The top two teams from each conference will compete in an eight-team, double-elimination bracket with games beginning today (Thursday) and potentially going through Monday.

Lovell will represent the top seed from the northwest region to face Laramie, which is the second seed from the southeast. The opening pitch for that game is set for 10 a.m. on Thursday morning at Ross Kesterson Field.

Other teams include Douglas, Green River, Evanston, Casper, Cody and Torrington.

“I am very proud of this group of boys,” head coach Jonathan Morgan said. “Being able to go into our state tournament as our conference’s top seed is something to be proud of.”

Morgan said that the team finished their last regular season games strong and hopes they carry over the level of intensity and focus into the tournament.

“There are no easy teams at State,” he added. “We need to go down to Evanston and take care of business. We will have to be at the top of our game to have success, but I believe this group can do it.”
