New lineup for ‘Lovell’s Days’

The summer celebration formerly known as Mustang Days not only has a new name, but some changes to the schedule of the popular celebration have been made, as well.

Mustang Days is now being called Lovell’s Days, though some refer to the event as Lovell’s Day or Lovell Days, but whatever the moniker, the annual celebration has some fresh, new events for the people of Lovell to enjoy, Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce manager Linda Morrison reported this week.

Lovell’s Days runs June 19-27.

To start, the annual golf tournament has been moved up a week to Saturday, June 20, at the Foster Gulch Golf Course, sponsored by Midway Construction. Golfing begins at 9 a.m.

There is just one evening of shooting at the Lovell Rod and Gun Club trap range northeast of Lovell on Tuesday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m.

The cornhole tournament at Great Western Park returns on Tuesday, June 23, at 6 p.m., organized by Kade Baxendale, and the annual Follies will be staged Wednesday and Thursday, June 24-25, at 7 p.m. at the Hyart Theatre.

Also returning is the car show from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 25 on Oregon Avenue.

Family Fun Friday

Newly named Family Fun Friday includes the breakfast from 6 to 10 a.m. at the fire hall, a new 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Armory Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a kiddie carnival from 4 to 7 p.m. at Armory Park, a new luminaria lighting ceremony (luminarias on sale now) at 6 p.m. at the downtown veterans park, the annual drag Main event from 6 to 8 p.m., the rodeo Calcutta at 8 p.m. at the Diamond J Bar, a street dance at the Red Apple parking lot featuring the Cowley Boys from 8 to 11 p.m. and a teen street dance from 9 p.m. to midnight at Armory Park.

Busy Saturday

A jam-packed Saturday begins with the breakfast from 6 to 9 a.m. at the fire hall, the Club Dauntless color run at 7:30 a.m., a flag raising ceremony at the downtown veterans park sponsored by the American Legion at 8 a.m., the Lovell’s Days Rose Parade at 10 a.m. with lineup at the high school parking lot, a hamburger and hot dog lunch at the Lovell Chamber of Commerce building sponsored by the local Masonic lodge at 11 a.m., the annual co-ed volleyball tournament at the Armory Park softball field at 1 p.m. sponsored by Lovell Recreation, the slack rodeo at 1 p.m. followed by the main rodeo at 4 p.m. at the Lovell Rodeo Grounds sponsored by the Lovell Rodeo Club, a Cowley Boys concert following the rodeo, a barbecue beef nacho pre-fireworks fundraiser at 6 p.m. at Lovell Middle School and the Pyro Musical Fireworks at dusk at the middle school grass field.
