Once again the attempt was made last week to persuade organized labor in the United States that it should form a national labor party. At this writing it seems certain to fall. Delegates from Illinois and Minnesota to the annual convention of the American Federation of Labor in Portland, Oregon, introduced resolutions calling for adoption of “independent political action for workers.”

It’s safe to say last week’s Class 2A State Golf Tournament near Hulett wasn’t the golf tournament the Lovell Bulldogs had been hoping for. First, the tournament had to be postponed from Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28, to Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, due to weather.
Then on the morning of the first round, top golfer Chase Tippetts – a senior and number one scorer – slipped in the motel bathroom and hit his head. As a result of the concussion, Tippetts had to sit out the first day and wasn’t 100 percent the second day.
A blustery day on Monday also led to virtually all scores being higher than normal, and the course – the Golf Club at Devil’s Tower – was tough, to boot. In spite of all that, the Bulldogs finished second behind Wright and beat six other schools plus three partial squads.
