The monument to mark the spot where the first Catholic Mass was celebrated in Wyoming was dedicated near Daniel. The marker is to commemorate the work of Father Jeane De Smet, Jesuit missionary, who came to this territory 85 years ago. Several hundred men and women attended the ceremony of dedication, which was conducted by the Knights of Columbus.

Cowley Pioneer Day festivities get underway tomorrow as residents and visitors celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the town. This year the celebration spans two days, Friday and Saturday, July 21-22. In honor of their centennial, Cowley is offering residents a one-day cancellation stamp commemorating the 100 years of existence.
The cancellation stamp may be purchased on an envelope that will also bear the Wyoming centennial stamp from 1990 and the Buffalo Bill stamp because Buffalo Bill helped lead the Mormon pioneers to this area.

For the first time in more than four years the Town of Lovell will have a town administrator with the appointment Tuesday night of Jed Nebel to the position. The town has not had an administrator since the resignation of Scott Campbell more than four years ago.
The council had chosen to not fund an administrator position for the last four years and initially did not ratify Mayor Angel Montanez’s appoinment of Nebel in May after some councilors expressed a desire to work within the budget process to fund the position first.
With an administrator included in the 2015-16 budget, Mayor Montanez again appointed Jedediah Rex Nebel as the Lovell Town Adminstrator Tuesday night, and this time the council voted to accept the appointment.
