Police report: Caller wants his wife and mother ‘out of the house’

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of December 29-January 4:

December 29: 10:19 a.m. – A citizen received a highway toll statement from Washington and knew it was a scam but came to the police station to report it.

3:19 p.m. – A caller requested that an officer make contact with an identified driver and speak to her about speeding with kids around, saying her granddaughter was out riding a bicycle when the driver sped by.

December 30: 2:13 p.m. – A resident of Rose City West reported the possible theft of a .357 revolver and ammunition belt. The case is under investigation, but the reporting party didn’t know the serial number, so the gun could not be entered in NCIC.

December 31: 4:56 a.m. – A man called from out of state stating that he wanted his wife and his mother “out of the house” he owns. He said the house is in his name, but he was advised it isn’t as simple as that when it comes to removing persons living there.

10:03 a.m. – A caller reported an adult male veteran with a gun in his hand threatening suicide. An officer responded and found no firearm in the man’s hand, though he admitted making suicidal comments. He willingly reported to the hospital with his girlfriend.

1:04 p.m. – A woman called to report that a large dog had jumped into her car at Maverik and she can’t get it out. An officer reported to the scene, took custody of the dog and attempted to contact the dog’s owner. No contact was made, but the dog was turned over to another family member.

9:17 p.m. – A caller complained of fireworks going off near the sugar factory. An officer was unable to locate any fireworks.

9:29 p.m. – A man called from out of state saying he had been unable to speak to his mother on Idaho Avenue for two days. An officer went to the home, and the woman agreed to call her son.

January 1: 2:36 p.m. – A woman in the process of moving said her ex-landlord was threatening to bar her from entering her former apartment when she went to get more belongings because she had not shampooed her carpet. She was advised to tell the landlord that she would perform the work as soon as her belongings were out, and if the landlord did not agree, she should contact an attorney.

4:21 p.m. – A man kicked out of a residence by his girlfriend asked for a civil standby while he returned to collect his belongings. The items had been placed in the front yard when officers reached the residence.

9:56 p.m. – A caller reported that she couldn’t sleep because the driver of a black and orange Dodge Challenger was “speeding around and revving up his engine.” An officer was unable to locate the vehicle. The same call about a male “speeding around the block” was also made two days later.

10:15 p.m. – A caller reported “loud music and loud kids” at a residence in Bair’s Trailer Court. An officer asked the young people to turn off the music, which they did, but the officer had to return to the residence due to loud talking. The officer sent everybody home.

January 2: 4:39 p.m. – A caller reported a silver Buick swerving all over the road from Byron to Lovell. An officer responded but the vehicle was parked at a residence by then, so the officer could not witness an improper driving pattern.

January 3: 6:38 p.m. – A caller complained of fireworks on Kansas Avenue. An officer responded, but the reported display had ended.

January 4: 9:42 a.m. – A caller reported that a car had been parked at the Cattlemen Motel on Montana Avenue for two days and was blocking a driveway. An officer contacted the owner, who was at work and said he had parked the car at that location because he had had too much to drink that night. He came to move the vehicle after work.

There were also five complaints of dogs barking or running loose during the week.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
