Police report: Citizen reports hit and run on Montana Avenue

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of February 23-March 1:

February 23: 12:27 p.m. – A caller reported that his 2025 white Ford pickup had been hit the previous Friday while parked on the 800 block of Montana Avenue in Lovell. He didn’t notice the damage at first, but when he went to fuel up, he discovered a dent in the door and a mud flap rubbing on a tire. An officer found white paint transfer and a piece of metal from the other vehicle. The case is under investigation.

February 24: 6:44 a.m. – A caller reported that his pit bull named Canelo was missing. He located the pet a few hours later.

2:06 p.m. – An officer performed a vehicle unlock at the Shoshone Bar and Grill on Main Street.

February 25: 12:50 p.m. – A caller on Jersey Avenue complained about his neighbor’s dogs barking. An officer responded but could hear no dogs.

12:56 p.m. – North Big Horn Hospital called to report a dog bite. An officer met with the victim, who had been bitten on the ankle by a Mini Aussie while walking. She did not wish to press charges, and the officer determined that the dog was current with its rabies vaccinations.

5:50 p.m. – A man reported that a female subject was harassing his girlfriend where she worked. An officer advised him to see if the business could file a criminal trespass order and provided information on CARES for a possible harassment or stalking order.

6:13 p.m. – A caller complained of someone revving an engine on West Main. An officer responded and discovered that the owner was attempting to fix a timing issue and that he was done for the night. The owner fired up the vehicle again the following evening and told an officer he was working on the truck once again and that it wouldn’t be long, just enough to check the timing.

February 26: 6:12 p.m. – An officer arrested George Grant Ward of Lovell on a warrant from Probation and Parole, and a sheriff’s deputy transported the man to the county detention center in Basin.

6:44 p.m. – A caller reported that a red Dodge Charger with black stripes almost hit the caller at Jersey and Third.

February 27: 8:02 p.m. – An officer noticed a vehicle parked in the wrong direction on Nevada Avenue with its brights on, blinding oncoming traffic. The driver was advised to park in the proper manner.

February 28: 9:26 a.m. – An officer assisted Big Horn County with a DUI arrest, providing an intox machine for the arrest.

March 1: 1:38 p.m. – Police received a report of a theft and possible assault on East Third Street. No other information was available in the report.

5 p.m. – An officer spoke with a parent whose child had taken a knife to the elementary school and carved something on a piece of playground equipment. The school resource office was to be notified the following day.

6:16 p.m. – A female issued a criminal trespass order for her sister and mother, barring them from a residence on East Third.

7:15 p.m. – A caller on East Seventh asked for extra patrol after a dark Nissan with Montana plates was seen driving around the caller’s home and then pulled up to a front yard where kids were playing.

8:52 p.m. – A manager at Maverik called about possibly trespassing four males from the store.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
