Police report: Early morning knocker was just boyfriend

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of July 6-12:

July 6: 10:19 a.m. – The animal control officer attempted to apprehend a loose pitbull at Main and Idaho. The dog went to a residence, so an officer went to the home and knocked on the door, then called later and left a message. The same dog was reported loose again later that morning, and an officer spoke to a family member about not allowing the dog to run at large.

11:27 a.m. – An officer checked on an occupied car that had been parked in the Maverik parking lot for several hours. The driver said he had been driving all night and was sleeping.

July 7: 11:23 – DFS reported a cracked windshield on a DFS vehicle that had been broken by a projectile over the weekend. The case is under investigation.

3:12 p.m. – A caller reported three teenage girls tubing in the canal between Shoshone and Oregon. An officer made contact with the young ladies and urged them to be careful.

July 8: 9:24 a.m. – A caller reported a German shepherd running loose at Jersey and West Third. The dog was taken to the animal control shelter, and when the owner attempted to retrieve the dog, it could not be released because it had been involved in a previous incident attacking a cat. The dog was to stay at the shelter until a court date.

11:59 a.m. – A caller reported apparent neglected dogs in a parked pickup at the LDS Church parking lot, with a dog in the back of the truck “crying” and the dog inside the cab unresponsive. An officer checked on the animals and found that the truck was parked in the shade with windows opened down a ways. The officer knocked on the glass, and the dog in the back seat responded. The dog in the truck bed was whining but was not hot.

4:54 p.m. – A caller requested an animal welfare check on Idaho Avenue. An officer responded and found several animals in the house including cats, lizards and snakes, and all were found to be in good health.

July 9: 3:25 a.m. – A caller on Jersey Avenue reported that someone was knocking on her door. Officers responded, and it turned out to be her boyfriend.

5:14 p.m. – Officers performed a welfare check at the Travelodge on East Main. An ambulance was called, but the person refused transport.

July 10: 12:23 p.m. – A woman who lives out of state called and expressed concern that her husband had a weapon as a felon and might come to get her. An officer determined that the man was not a felon and was legally allowed to possess firearms.

9:27 p.m. – A caller reported that someone was giving kids rides around the neighborhood in the bucket of a Bobcat loader. An officer responded and found a parked skid steer, but no one was around.

July 12: 3:09 p.m. – A caller asked for a welfare check on his mother at the Western Motel, saying that he had been unable to reach her, with all calls going to voicemail. An officer made contact with the woman, who was OK, and advised her to call her son.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
