Police report: Nine animal calls keep officers busy during week
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of February 2-8:
February 2: 2:47 p.m. – Management at the 4 Corners Bar called to request that a criminal trespass order against an individual be released.
February 4: 7:45 p.m. – A caller reported finding a black cat at Maverik. The cat had been adopted from the Lovell Animal Control shelter and was owned by a Byron resident. The wayward kitty was returned to its owner.
8:25 p.m. – A Cowley resident reported a missing black and white female kitten in case someone called dispatch to report finding the cat.
February 5: 7:04 a.m. – A caller reported a grey pitbull out of its yard since 5:30 a.m. on East Sixth Street. The owner was contacted and put the dog back in the house.
8:02 a.m. – A caller reported black Labs running loose on Montana Avenue. The animal control officer responded, but the dogs had returned to their yard. The owner promised to keep them from getting out, but police were called at 5:01 p.m. about the same dogs out again. An officer caught one of the dogs and took it to the shelter. The owner had to pay a $25 apprehension fee and was told to purchase dog tags so the pets would be legal.
February 6: 10 a.m. – A minor crash involving a green Toyota Camry and a 2023 red Chevy was investigated. No further information was available.
11:36 p.m. – A 17-year-old female was reported as a possible runaway but returned home later.
February 7: 1:14 p.m. – A tan and cream shihtzu was reported missing near the middle school on West Ninth but soon returned home.
4:13 p.m. – A black dog with a curled-up tail was barking and acting in an aggressive manner at Kansas and West Second. An officer arrived on scene and cornered the dog, then spoke to a resident who said it wasn’t her dog but would ask the owner to come and get the animal.
February 8: 7 a.m. – A grey pitbull and a brown medium sized dog were reported as acting aggressively at Oregon and East Third. An officer was unable to locate the dogs.
5:31 p.m. – Two small longhair dogs were running loose on West Third. They were taken to the shelter, and the owner paid $50 in apprehension fees and retrieved the dogs.
Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
