Police report: Owner of aggressive dog cited for ‘dangerous dog’

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of June 8-14:

June 8: 8:06 a.m. – After a caller requested a welfare check, an officer checked on an elderly resident, and everything was OK.

10:31 a.m. – A man said he was charged twice by a black and white dog on West Main. The dog was secured in the owner’s yard, and the owner was issued citations for dog at large and dangerous dog.

11:54 a.m. – A woman reported that, while she was in Yellowstone Chiropractic, someone stole the side mirror off of her vehicle. An officer later found the mirror lying in the gutter next to the curb, apparently having been clipped by a passing vehicle.

9:36 p.m. – A caller on East Sixth Street reported that when they let their dogs out the neighbor’s Husky came into their yard and attacked the dogs. There were no injuries, and the reporting party did not wish to press charges.

June 9: 12:56 a.m. – A caller reported motion lights illuminated on Jersey Avenue. An officer responded and did not observe anyone in the area.

3:18 p.m. – A car backed into another vehicle at the Maverik Country Store. A Powell woman was cited for improper backing.

4:56 p.m. – A caller reported a man pacing back and forth in the parking lot at the Catholic Church on Shoshone Avenue. An officer responded, and the man said his brakes had locked up, and he was waiting for someone to come and help him.

June 11: 3:02 p.m. – A caller reported that neighbors were swearing and yelling in their back yard on East Eighth Street. An officer made contact with the individuals, who agreed to separate for a while.

June 12: 10:24 a.m. – A vehicle backed into another vehicle at Family Dollar. The two drivers exchanged information, but when the victim of the backing later tried to call the other driver to obtain insurance information, the elderly driver could not be reached. It was discovered that she was in the hospital and that the information would be relayed later.

9:32 p.m. – When a driver turned onto McKinley Avenue from Main Street, her tire blew and she drove into a parked trailer. A child passenger was taken to North Big Horn Hospital with injuries to his mouth.

11:48 p.m. – A police officer and sheriff’s deputy checked out a report of an alarm going off on Park Avenue. They thought it was inside a residence, then at the school, but the alarm turned out to be a smoke alarm beeping in a backyard after being tossed from a nearby house due to the beeping.

June 13: 1:57 p.m. – A citizen asked to speak with an officer at the police station in regard to an ongoing investigation.

June 14: 12:38 a.m. – An officer checked on a vehicle with hazard lights flashing near St. John’s Lutheran Church. The driver reported a failing alternator and said the vehicle would be moved the following day.

2:54 p.m. – A caller reported a semi-tractor and trailer partially blocking Jersey Avenue while parked across Main Street from the Maverik. An officer made contact with the driver, who then moved the truck.

10:10 p.m. – A caller reported a verbal fight in a backyard on East Eighth Street. There was nothing physical, and the parties separated for the evening.
