Police report: Police investigate three hit-and-run incidents
The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of August 11-17:
August 11: 1:10 a.m. – Police responded to a car on fire in the alley behind Carmon Avenue after which an individual was arrested for arson. (See story last week.)
10:52 a.m. – A caller reported that someone keeps calling him stating he was with the IRS and demanded tax money because the caller had won the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes, which he had not. He was aware of the scam and simply wanted the incident to be documented.
12:15 p.m. – A man was backing out of a parking spot at Maverik as a juvenile was pulling into the spot next to him. The man’s driver’s side front corner struck the passenger side of the juvenile’s car. When the man said he wanted to exchange information with the juvenile, the young man fled, and an investigation found that he was not eligible yet to be driving alone. It was determined that the juvenile was not at fault in the collision, and the adult driver submitted an insurance claim.
5:14 p.m. – The Wyoming Highway Patrol passed along a REDDI report of a silver Jeep renegade “all over the road” on U.S. 14A three miles west of Byron. Officers did not spot the vehicle in Lovell.
5:29 p.m. – A female caller reported that she was parked on Main Street in front of Big Horn Federal, and while she was unloading items for a meeting on the sidewalk, a vehicle struck the driver’s side of her vehicle while passing by. She observed a green Toyota 4-Runner driving away. The case is under investigation.
August 12: 10:26 a.m. – In a third hit-and-run case in two days, a female caller reported that she had discovered damage from a collision on the rear passenger side of her vehicle that was done between August 1 and 8. She didn’t know whether the damage had been done locally or in Park County. She wanted the incident documented for insurance purposes.
10 p.m. – A caller on Oregon Avenue reported that an 18-year-old female residing at the home had gone for a walk with a dog. A description of the young woman and the dog was provided. The subject returned home the next day.
10:05 p.m. – A caller on Jersey Avenue reported money missing from a vehicle. Police gave the party a voluntary statement form to fill out, and the case is under investigation.
August 13: 4:57 p.m. – A report of a missing 16-year-old boy turned out to be a misunderstanding. He was at his mother’s workplace.
August 14: 8:12 p.m. – An adult female called to report being threatened with physical harm after she posted something on Facebook. She was advised to block the threatening party and call immediately if the individual comes to her residence.
August 15: 11:14 a.m. – A caller reported threats made at the Shoshone Bar and was given a voluntary statement to fill out.
7:28 p.m. – A caller reported that her ex was threatening to take her and her child and leave. She was advised to speak to an attorney since there was no custody agreement in effect. She was advised to call police if the ex arrived at her house.
9:39 p.m. – A woman called to report that a male at her residence at Bair’s Trailer Court was refusing to leave the residence. An officer responded and told the male that he was to leave the location for the night.
August 16: 7:42 a.m. – A customer at Minchow’s Sinclair drove off without paying when his app failed. A dispatcher called him, and he returned to pay for the gas.
11:01 p.m. – A caller at the Lovell Apartments on Montana Avenue complained that neighbors were being loud and throwing things around their apartment. An officer responded and could not hear any noise coming from the neighbors’ apartment.
The Lovell Police Department received 12 calls about noisy or lost dogs at multiple locations and performed seven traffic stops throughout the week.
