Raul E. Castro

Raul E. Castro of Tucuman, Argentina, died at his home on April 14, 2013. He was born in Antofagasta, Chile, on Dec. 13, 1935.[caption id="attachment_6309" align="alignright" width="98"] Raul Castro[/caption]As a young man he went to Argentina, met the love of his life, Mercedes A. Bulacio, and later they were married. Last year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.He worked at a lumber company for several years. Then he decided to go on his own, became a Master Carpenter, and was able to make beautiful furniture as well as restore old, antique items.He lived a Christ-like life and after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a devoted member serving many times as a mission leader. He was also called as a bishop. He found great joy in serving his fellowmen and was known for sharing candy with everyone. Children loved him and knew that he loved them, too.He was able to come to Cowley twice to visit his daughter, Carmen Allred. He was well known by her neighbors and members of the ward in Cowley.He was sealed to his wife and family in the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple.He is survived by his wife, Mercedes; three children, Carmen (Michael) Allred of Cowley, Raul E. Castro Jr. (Maria Ines del Sastre) of Tucuman, Argentina, and Silvia Vowles (Jonathan) of Provo, Utah; grandchildren Stephanie Winters (Scott), Rachael, Jessica and Jonathan Allred, and Cristian, Agustin and Camila Castro, and one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Sophia Winters.Burial took place in Tucuman, Argentina, on April 15, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
