The Rocky Mountain Middle School girls basketball team is off to a solid start for the 2026 season, head coach Taylor Winland has reported.

Opening play Friday in Burlington, the Lady Grizz dropped two of three games. Burlington won the A game 23-15, Rocky took the B game 31-14 and the hometown Lady Huskies edged the Grizz in the C game 16-15.

Kielley Brimhall led Rocky in the A game with 7 points, and Kate Crosby added 4 points, Tianna Christiansen 3 and Presli Moss 1. Karli Larsen scored 10 to lead the B team, Paizlee Fisher 9. Ryan May scored 8 for the C team.

Playing in Thermopolis Saturday, the Lady Grizz swept three games, winning the A game 25-8, the B game 18-12 and the C game 22-6.

Josie Loyning scored 9 in the A game to lead Rocky Mountain, and Brimhall added 6, Crosby and Raelyn Reculusa 4 each and Moss 2. Miranda Bassett and Fisher led the B team with 8 points each, and Jill Crosby led the C team with 6 points, Sammy Boardman and Brentley Rasmussen adding 4 apiece.

The Lady Grizz hosted Ten Sleep in their home opener Monday, playing just B and C games. Rocky won the B game 27-8 and the C game 12-4. Larsen led the Lady Grizz with 8 points in the B game, and Bassett added 6, Fisher 5, Jill Crosby 4, Collins Hubbell and May 2 each. May scored 6 in the C game, Boardman 4 and Allyson Crosby 2.

“We are off to a great start in our season,” Winland said. “A lot of these girls came straight from volleyball with a one-day break and got right to work. We have 28 girls out, which is great to see. I think my first year as an assistant we had 12. We have 10 eighth graders, four seventh graders and 14 sixth graders.  All three teams competed hard over the weekend, and we are looking forward to a great season.”

The Lady Grizzlies are off until next Tuesday, Nov. 3, when they travel to Meeteetse for a 4:15 p.m. tip-off.
