RMMS Lady Grizz working to recover from slump

The Rocky Mountain Middle School volleyball team struggled a bit during the past week as the Lady Grizz traveled to Burlington Thursday, hosted Thermopolis Saturday and traveled to Greybull Monday.

Scores reported by head coach Lacey Bassett are:

At Burlington, Rocky points first –

A Team (loss) 11-25, 15-25, 4-15; B Team (loss) 18-25, 25-19, 6-15; C team (loss) 14-25, 22-25, 15-9.

Hosting Thermop, squad split into four teams, best out of three –

Grizz Team (loss) 18-25, 24-26; Gold Team (win) 25-8, 25-23; Brown Team (win) 25-8, 25-10; White Team (win) 25-21, 25-20.

At Greybull, four games, only two sets per game –

Grizz (loss) 12-25, 17-25; Gold (win) 25-21, 26-24; Brown (tie) 9-25, 25-13; White (loss) 10-25, 17-25.

The Rocky Mountain A team will travel to the Big Horn Conference tournament in Thermopolis Saturday while the B/C team competes at a jamboree in Basin.

“The eighth graders started the season coming out strong, and lately we have been taking a little longer to warm up,” Bassett said. “We are working on bringing those two versions of our team together and finding that early season energy again. Middle school six-week seasons are a blessing and a curse, but we’re looking forward to this weekend and hoping to finish strong and to compete like a Grizz.”
