Though technically on spring break, a few Rocky Mountain Middle School track and field athletes made the trip to Greybull Friday for the GMS Invitational.

One girl and seven boys competed for Rocky Mountain.

The lone Lady Grizz competing was eighth grader Kennedy Brimhall. Brimhall placed second in the high jump, clearing 4-6, and fourth in both the triple jump, 28-5, and the 200-meter dash, 33.41 seconds.

For the boys, eighth grader Mason Moss had an outstanding day, winning four events. Moss won the 400 meters in a time of 57.79 and showed his versatility by winning both the 100-meter hurdles in 16.30 and the 200-meter hurdles in 32.50. He also won the high jump, clearing 5-4.

Jaxx May had a strong day in the seventh-grade division. He won the 400 meters in 1:03.71 and the high jump at 5-2, and he also placed second in the 200-meter dash in a time of 30.22.

Eighth grader Cooper Winland won both throwing events, flinging the discus 99-10 to win the event and heaving the shot 40-1 to win the shot put. John Mader finished right behind Winland in the eighth-grade discus with a throw of 97-8, and he placed sixth in the shot put at 31-9½.

Gary Gardner placed fifth in the eighth-grade long jump with a leap of 12-1, and sixth grader Brooks Brost placed sixth in the long jump at 12-3½.

Jaxson Sponsel placed sixth in the seventh-grade triple jump, hitting the sand at 26-1 and seventh in the 200-meter hurdles in 38.50. He finished 10th in the 100-meter hurdles 23.25.
