RMMS track team has several athletes qualify for ‘Best of the Best’ at Shoshoni
The Rocky Mountain Middle School track team traveled to Shoshoni on Saturday, where both the boys and girls turned in strong performances and continued to show improvement.
“The kids competed well Saturday,” coach Taylor Winland said. “We luckily had great weather and got a lot of PRs, and some kids qualified for Best of the Best. Tianna Christiansen also broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles by a second.”
Five athletes qualified for Best of the Best: Presli Moss (100 hurdles, 19.30), Raelyn Reculusa (200, 30.00), Elle Ganoung (shot put, 23-3.5), Derek Hedges (shot put, 33-6.5) and Eli Wallman (high jump, 4-8). Christiansen also set a new seventh-grade school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.86.

Christiansen led the way for the girls team, placing second in the 100 hurdles (17.86), fifth in the 200 hurdles (34.45) and third in pole vault (7-0). Reculusa took sixth in the 100 (14.33) and seventh in the 200 (30.00). Moss added a third-place finish in the 800 (2:54.29), while Ganoung placed sixth in the shot put (23-3.5). The seventh-grade girls 4x100 relay team placed sixth (1:02.39).

Henry Pincoskie placed sixth in the 800 (2:40.74) and eighth in the high jump (4-6). James Demers took ninth in the 1,600 (6:29.46). Brooks Brost placed fifth in the 100 (18.51), seventh in the 200 (32.50) and third in high jump (4-10). Will Simmons was 10th in both the 100 (21.40) and 200 (35.55). Wallman placed seventh in high jump (4-8), while Hedges took third in the shot put (33-6.5). The boys 4x100 relay team placed fifth (56.14).
Overall, the Grizzlies had a strong meet and will host their next competition on Friday, beginning at 1 p.m., where they will look to build on this week’s success.
