Rocky Mountain students to enjoy a ‘Masquerade Ball’ for prom

Rocky Mountain High School students will dance to an old-fashioned theme Masquerade Ball Friday night as the school hosts the annual RMHS Junior Prom in the school’s auxiliary gym.

According to junior class sponsor Geranne Rasmussen, doors will open at 7 p.m. for photos by Ramie Edwards, and the grand march will begin at 8 p.m. in the auxiliary gym, followed by the junior promenade dance choreographed by Lacey Bassett and Madison Grandalen.

The promenade will be followed by the crowning of the junior royalty and the royalty dance, with royalty member parents joining in mid-dance.

After the ceremonies, parents will be invited to depart, and the dance will continue until 11:30 p.m. with music provided by DJ Mike Moose Ahlstrand.

Prom colors are black, white and gold, and the gym will be decorated like an old-fashioned ballroom with students invited to wear masquerade ball masks.

Tickets for the prom are $10 per person or $15 for a couple, and a $2 donation is requested for spectators.

Assisting Rasmussen as fellow junior class sponsors are Danielle Malson, Tobee Christiansen and Erica Griffin.

There will be no post-prom party for attendees this year, Rasmussen said.
