Rocky Mtn. JV girls take two tough losses over the weekend

The Rocky Mountain junior varsity Lady Grizz faced two hard losses over the weekend, falling to Tongue River on Friday and Wyoming Indian the following day.

The Lady Grizz opened the weekend with a 41–21 loss to Tongue River in Dayton. The top scorers in the game were Brooklyn Larsen with 9 points, Leah Haslem with 6 and Kennedy Brimhall and Avery Thomas, who each added 3.

On the boards against Tongue River, Thomas led the team with five box-outs, followed by Larsen with 4.

After Friday’s loss, the junior varsity Lady Grizz returned to action Saturday against Wyoming Indian, falling 61–25 at home against a very strong Lady Chiefs team. Larsen again led the scoring with 7 points, followed by Haslem with 5 and Charlee Welling and Annie Crosby with 4 points each.

Rebounding remained a bright spot for Rocky Mountain in the Wyoming Indian game. Larsen pulled down 10 rebounds, while Thomas added seven boards.

Assistant coach Stacy Haslem said the team continues to make progress despite the losses.

“Although the final scores were not in our favor, both games showed improvement over our last meeting,” Haslem said. “They are playing more and more as one, and our rebounding stats are improving. This team’s continued determination and progress have been impressive.”

The JV Lady Grizz will travel to Greybull on Friday before returning home Saturday to face Shoshoni.
